‘Tis the season to be jolly' - and we’re here to help you prepare for the festivities. We’ve got the lowdown on what Christmas food you can buy and where – as well as the delivery dates for six top UK supermarkets.

Make sure you put these delivery dates in your diary and set yourself a reminder, as slots book up quickly!

Aldi's Christmas food

Aldi has launched their Christmas turkey crowns early this year. To keep your turkeys fresh, make sure you freeze it as soon as you get home from the shops. Just remember to defrost it thoroughly before cooking.

A small turkey crown that serves four to six people comes to £11.49 and a large crown for seven to nine people is just £14.49.

Their gift hampers are also available to pre-order online now, to receive from 28th November onwards. Delivery charges will apply.

Aldi's Christmas collection slots

Aldi doesn’t offer a food delivery service, but you can order a turkey online today via click and collect. Or you may want to wait until the full range of Fresh British Turkeys becomes available in-store from 19th December.

Tip: See Aldi’s full calendar to find out when they'll be bringing out different Christmas products in-store.

Morrisons' Christmas food

Morrisons has a range of reasonably-priced turkeys on offer at the moment, including a 1kg cooked turkey joint for £12 and an extra-large free-range whole bronze turkey starting at £37.45, which serves up to 11-12 people.

If you’re not into turkey, you could consider other delicious options for Christmas dinner, such as a whole cooked lobster for £9 (serves two), or this matured British beef roasting joint from £10.48, which serves eight to 12 people.

Vegetarian and vegan options include vegetable wellington (serves three) and no-pigs in blankets, costing £7.50 altogether.

Morrisons' Christmas delivery slots

Christmas delivery dates are yet to be confirmed, but orders can be placed between now and 14th December for in-store collections - to pick up between 21st and 24th December.

Tip: Morrisons have confirmed that Delivery Pass holders will get priority for deliveries between 20th and 24th December. All other customers will be able to book slots a week afterward. A monthly pass costs £5, six months pass £20, and an annual pass £35. This fee covers all deliveries within the pass.

Minimum spend

There’s a minimum spend of £20 for collection which acts as your deposit, then you pay anything extra when you collect your food. A minimum order value of £40 usually applies to deliveries, and a charge may apply.

M&S' Christmas food

M&S' Christmas food is available to pre-order online now. Their lowest-priced turkey crown is £21.60, (serves six-eight). If you’re looking to cook for a group of 12-14 people, then it’ll cost £79.20 for their free-range stuffed turkey crown.

There’s also a handy vegetable bundle for £25 (serves six). It includes goose-fat roast potatoes, braised red cabbage, carrot and swede crush, cauliflower cheese, Brussels sprouts, chestnuts, and honey and mustard parsnips.

Vegetarian mains include Plant Kitchen vegan beef wellington, at £15 for four people. And a Collection mushroom, camembert and parsnip pie for £20 – also four people.

M&S' Christmas collection slots

Christmas slots are already open for reservation, so you’ll need to book yours soon to avoid disappointment. It’s on a collection-only basis, and you can pick up your food between 22nd and 24th December from your local store.

Sainsbury’s Christmas food

Sainsbury's has Christmas food available to buy online now, including turkeys. Prices range from £21.50 for an organic bronze turkey crown (serves three), to £75.25 for a free-range turkey crown (serves up to 12).

That way you get almost twice as much meat, for less than half the price (£10.00). If you’re cooking for a group of people, you could try different meat, like glazed gammon, for example, which can serve 10 people for £18.

Sainsbury's is also offering a selection of mouth-watering vegetarian and vegan options. A no-turkey stuffed crown for four is just £5.75.

Sainsbury’s Christmas delivery slots

The deadline to pre-order Sainsbury’s Christmas food (via click and collect) is midnight on 16th December.

Tip: If you have a Sainsbury’s Delivery Pass, you’ll be able to bypass the queues and book a Christmas delivery slot up to four weeks before non-delivery pass holders. The cheapest one you can get is a midweek three-month pass for £10, which includes up to one free delivery every day. An annual pass costs £60, which works out cheaper per month. So, you need to work out how long you’d want to use it for.
