Last year, we highlighted just how much it would cost us if we paid for all the work our ‘Supermums’ do, and the figure came back a staggering £49,806.66 a year.
From nurse, home tutor, dietician and activity coach, to housekeeper, chef, therapist and chauffeur, our mums are a bundle of roles wrapped into one.
This year at Ocean, we’ve taken a more hands-on approach, and equipped a bunch of bloggers with the means to treat their mum this Mother’s Day, without worrying about their finances.
Looking for some last minute inspiration?
Still not sorted your Mother’s Day surprise? Don’t worry - we’ve got lots of ideas you could put together before Sunday!
Afternoon tea – A good old chinwag over a scrumptious scone, selection of sweet treats and a nice brew – what better way to get in some quality motherly time? Restaurants will be pretty busy though, so it’s definitely advisable to pre-book. And if everywhere is booked up, you could invite your mum round for a high tea at your house.
Home-cooked meal – How many hearty home-cooked meals has your mum served up for you over the years? On Sunday, you could turn the tables and let your mum put her feet up while you slave away in the kitchen and prepare her favourite meal. Want to give her the full dining-out experience? Then go the whole hog and serve up the full three courses!
Spa – No matter how old you are, your mum never stops worrying or running around after you. Show her you appreciate it by treating her to a couple of hours of escapism so she can completely wind down and put her feet up.
Personalised photo-frame – Personalised presents are sometimes the best, and what’s more personal than a collection of photographic memories? Tip: Next have a strong range of collage frames.
For the future – Does your mum have a favourite band, comedian or show? Are they touring any time in the near future? Not all gifts have to be redeemable on Mother’s Day, and giving your mum something to look forward to post-Mother’s Day hysteria could be a nice change.
Vouchers – Over the years, our mums have showered us with toys, clothes, spending money and holidays, handing over their hard-earned cash to put a smile on our face. You could always return the favour and give your mum a voucher so she can treat herself to a guilt-free shopping splurge.
What will you be doing with your mum this Mother’s Day? You can share your plans and spread some inspiration on our Facebook or Twitter pages!
