Katy Perry’s new homes 2014 – Get the look
Having a home that she loves is very important to Katy Perry and after her divorce she decided to purchase two in the Hollywood Hills.
She chose two on adjoining plots – a contemporary property and a Spanish-style home. Katy really wanted to put her own stamp on the Spanish property so didn’t move in straight away.
The Spanish-style building was built in the 1950s and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a guest house and swimming pool. Katy was able to dictate exactly how she wanted the décor to be (with the help of an interior designer of course!) because she no longer had to take anyone else’s opinions on board. She had full control.
Her contemporary home didn’t require much work at all. It is open plan with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and surrounded by trees for privacy. It has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a swimming pool.
After touring Katy’s properties, if you fancy injecting some of her contemporary style into your home then you could find bedroom storage not too dissimilar in IKEA’s PAX range. Modern homes tend to be full of open plan spaces and clean lines, so to make the most of the look you have to be very neat and clever with your storage solutions as everything has to be packed away in the right place.
If you have a compact kitchen, follow Katy’s lead and have a breakfast bar with some funky stools. IKEA have a huge range for you to choose from so you could select some similar to Katy’s or choose some in a different colour/style if you prefer. And if you don’t have a breakfast bar, you could consider a kitchen refit that includes one. This can provide you with valuable extra worktop space.
Katy has always opted for homes with an outside dining option so why not invest in stylish and contemporary outdoor dining table and chairs? Argos have a great range of dining sets available.
If you love Katy’s contemporary vibe but also like her traditional, more homely style, don’t despair. You might not be able to afford two houses but there is nothing stopping you from mixing and matching between different rooms in your home. A few cleverly selected cushions and accessories can completely transform a room, so learn from Katy and ‘be bold!’
