Count the Kicks triumphs in Win the Tin small charity competition
Our Win the Tin charity competition, which has been running since October, has seen thousands of votes cast for 200 extremely worthwhile causes. Competition was fierce thanks to so many of you coming out in support of your favourite small charities but there could only be one winner.
We’re pleased to announce that all 114,000 of your votes have been counted and the winner of the £5,000 prize is stillbirth awareness charity Count the Kicks.
The work of Count the Kicks
Count the Kicks works to educate mums-to-be about how important it is to keep track of their baby’s movements during pregnancy to try and eliminate any complications or stillbirths. We were touched by stories from mums who said that the charity had helped to save their baby’s life, thanks to the kick counting wristbands they produce. They’ve even had celebrity support from Alesha Dixon and Holly Willoughby in the past year, and they’re going to spend the £5,000 to produce more advice leaflets for new mums.
The runners up
Mums and dads came out in force to tell us about the inspiring work carried out by Millie’s Trust, a baby first aid education charity from Cheshire. They offer first aid training courses for new parents to help save lives and give people the confidence to look after their babies.
The SuperJosh Brain Tumour Charity came third in our competition, with thousands of fans supporting the work they do. Josh Wilson was diagnosed with a brain tumour aged three and tragically passed away this year at just 14 years old. His family set up the SuperJosh charity to give help to other young people with brain tumours, and the prize money will contribute to their important work.
20 fantastic causes
Whilst Count the Kicks was our winner, we were really inspired by the work done by all of the top 20 charities on our shortlist. It was great to see some smaller hardworking charities receiving recognition for their important causes and seeing the support of all of their fans.
