For many, it’s the most spine-tingling night of the year and Halloween is also a great opportunity to get creative.
With this in mind, we’ve challenged fifteen brave bloggers to let their imaginations run wild and turn their home into a #screamhome, for one night only.
Keep an eye on our blog where we’ll be rounding up the best efforts; however in the meantime, here’s some inspiration for throwing your own Halloween party or event:
Want to celebrate but can’t face the thought of getting off the sofa? Why not have a Halloween themed movie night? Whip up some pumpkin spiced popcorn, turn the lights down low and put on your favourite scary movies. We love Hocus Pocus for the kids, or classics like ‘Halloween’ for the grown-ups.
Trick or Treating
A traditional Halloween pursuit, many of us remember getting dressed up in our finest costumes on Halloween night and setting out in search of sweets. However, Trick or Treating has seen a downswing in recent years. If your children are stilling planning on heading out on All Hallow’s Eve, make sure that they stick to houses you know or people with copious decorations to ensure you don’t get a frosty reception!
In America, Halloween is celebrated in typically over the top style, with street parties and decorations galore. However, in the UK, we tend to be more restrained, with a glowing pumpkin usually the extent of Halloween décor. This year, take inspiration from our cousins across the pond and go all out: we’re talking spiders on the walls, hanging skeletons and spooky lanterns.
Themed House Party
All grown up but still want to embrace Halloween fancy dress? Why not throw a themed house party? Make it extra special by making your theme as specific as possible: try a Harry Potter themed bash for a family friendly time or if the party’s just for adults, invite your friends to dress up as characters from their favourite horror movies. Make the night extra special by creating your own spooky cocktails and creepy canapés.
