Are ClearScore and Noddle safe?

Are ClearScore and Noddle safe?

There’s nothing wrong with being cautious about where you input your personal details online, especially when it’s to do with your finances.

But in this case, you can rest easy knowing that both ClearScore and Noddle are perfectly safe and reputable credit-checking services. Whatever information you enter should be safe with them.

An extension of Equifax and Callcredit

In the UK, there are three credit reference agencies: Experian, Equifax and Callcredit. These are the only websites that offer a facility for you to check your credit history.

Up until recently, you would have to pay one of these companies to access your credit history. This may have been a monthly fee, or once a year – although they may have offered a free trial period.

Well, now two of these credit reference agencies have provided you a way to check your credit history for free – which is great news. The two agencies that have done this are Equifax, which has partnered up with ClearScore, and Callcredit, which owns Noddle.

As these free services are offered by two of the main credit reference agencies, you can relax in the knowledge that your details are in safe hands.

Taking security seriously

Both ClearScore and Noddle take steps to protect your personal information. Every piece of data they hold is processed strictly in-line with the Data Protection Act 1998, and neither pass on your details to third parties unless you explicitly state that they can do so.

Not only this, but both Noddle and ClearScore also use encryption, which makes it much more difficult for the data to be accessed by anyone else. On ClearScore’s website, it states that: “ClearScore uses the latest in 256-bit encryption to ensure your information stays secure.”

While these security measures should certainly come as a relief to you, it’s understandable if you’ve got concerns after some of the high-profile cyber-attacks reported in the past few years. Well, although it’s an ongoing battle to protect your details from malicious hackers, both ClearScore and Noddle take the security of your details very seriously.

A good way to track your credit history

So if you had concerns about how safe these services are before, we hope this information has put you at ease.

The two services offer a quick way to check your credit history as often as you like for free, which is really useful if you’re looking to improve it. Even if you’re happy with your credit history, it’s good to get into the habit of checking it once a month to make sure there are no red marks or mistakes cropping up.
