It’s a simple job that takes just a few seconds - letting the trapped hot air out of your radiators so they work a whole lot better on those cold evenings when you most rely on them.
And yet, nearly one in 10 of us say we would pay someone to bleed our radiators for us.
New research* conducted on our behalf has found that more than 50% of people would pay a handyman to come and do one or more of those straightforward odd jobs around the home that used to be a DIY staple. However, rather than being a waste of money, this reliance on tradespeople could actually help many to avoid a costly home improvement disaster.
Why do it yourself?
There was a time when weekends and bank holidays were dedicated to jobs around the house – from large renovation and home improvement projects that help create a dream home to those little odd jobs that ensure it runs smoothly. However, it seems there’s now plenty people would rather pay someone else to do than do themselves.
For instance, while one in 10 said they would contact a tradesperson to bleed their radiators, slightly more than this said they would hire someone to put up a shelf. And while flat pack furniture is supposed to be easy to assemble, 7% of respondents admitted they would hire someone to put it together for them.
However, hiring a handyman could, in fact, help save people money in the long-run. More than one in 10 respondents admitted that they have had to splash out on the services of a professional tradesperson to fix the disasters caused by their DIY efforts in the past.
And the time it takes to do all these little jobs soon mounts up. If you work long hours in a busy job, or have a family to look after, the last thing you want to be doing when you do get chance to relax at home is put up a shelf or bleed all the radiators.
If you’re planning a home improvement project or simply want to get all those odd jobs that have been left unfinished finally completed, hiring a tradesperson can ensure you get the work done fast. Plus, there’s less risk of disaster as the work will be done by a professional – meaning you should get top quality results.
Whether you’re planning a huge property renovation with all the professional help you can get, or a simpler project that will be no less beneficial to your household, you can find out more about home improvement loans here.
