Do I need to be a UK citizen?
Not necessarily, EU nationals can vote in some elections. Irish nationals and qualifying Commonwealth citizens can too, so if that’s you and you’re looking to apply for credit in the UK, sign up.
I think I’m already registered
If you think you’re already registered, it’s a good idea to check that all of your details are up to date. For example, if you’ve moved house or got married and changed your name, check this is correct on the register. You can find and contact your local authority here to check.
How long will it take to update my credit report?
You’re probably looking at about a month – councils usually process updates to the electoral roll and send the details to the credit reference agency one a month, so be patient! Sometimes it may take a little longer.
