Katy Perry’s New York crash pad – Get the look:

Katy Perry loves spending time in New York so shortly before she married Russell Brand in October 2010 they purchased an apartment at 65 North Moore Street. It cost them $2.68 million and after they split they sold it for $2.62 million.

For this home, Katy seemed to let more of her personality shine through in the décor – it was still contemporary but a lot warmer and more homely than her Los Feliz house. The property featured lots of wood, which the singer emphasised with furniture in the same material. This is a great tip to try out in your own home, as it allows you to highlight the property’s most attractive features.

There were colourful cushions in orange, grey and hot pink on the sofas in the open plan living space. Interesting sculptures and vases sat on cherry wood tables, complementing the high beams and flooring.

To recreate the look, check out Next’s wide range of cushions in Katy’s colours. Argos has a great table lamp, which is very similar to the one in Katy’s lounge.

Katy had selected bold artwork to add drama to the dining area and incorporated some large potted plants to bring a bit of nature inside the penthouse.

Top Tip

If you have limited outdoor space, why not follow Katy’s lead and buy some potted plants for your lounge and dining areas? You can choose real plants or plastic – whichever you prefer. Check out IKEA’s plant range.

One of the most attractive aspects of Katy’s penthouse was the wooden staircase leading to the master bedroom on the mezzanine level. The master bedroom itself was very compact but because it opened on to the terrace it gave the illusion of being much bigger than it actually was. If space is an issue in your home why not consider adding French doors or larger windows to let more natural light inside.
